Just after watching the programme about Declan Browne, great programme, really enjoyed watching him when he was in top form,a class act that would walk on to any county team.

Browne was absolutely gifted. A natural footballer. I honestly think he could still play a part for our seniors when you consider the poor finishing we were guilty of two weeks ago. He is a football fanatic and a true gent and you can be guaranteed of his attendance at nearly every Tipp football game supporting the lads.
I really hope he can get into coaching sometime. Even to have him around the dressing room would be a huge boost at a time when he have a promising set of footballers in the pipeline

Tipp had a good team around then as well,Lambert was another top player,he played a bit with Nemo I think did he?

Crap I didn't realise this was on tonight. Had the privilege to see him live a few times and was gobsmacked with the things he could do. One time in Navan, he put a sideline over which was more impressive than Maurice Fitzgerald's against Dublin.
Even though it was only the Tommy Murphy Cup, it was great to see him lift a national trophy in the Hogan Stand before he retired. I honestly think he's one of the greatest modern footballers.

Correct. Lambert won an ireland title with nemo rangers in 94 i think. Another quality footballer. Brendan Cummins wasn't half bad either but when the back door system came in for hurling in 2002 it became more difficult perhaps for him to play the two codes so he quit football ahead of 2003 league. Brian Lacey who went playing for Kildare in 1998 was another very good footballer produced in this county.

Tipp of course won a Munster minor title in 1995 with the likes of Browne and the current Senior goalkeeper Paul Fitzgerald playing for them.

Ya Cummins was a good player as well,I reckon they would have been a match for any team back then if the qualifiers were brought in during the mid to late 90s,Browne was capable of beating a team on his own no matter who marked him,one of the most natural forwards ive ever seen playing the game tbh

@ Hammer Archer i reckon you could probably catch it on tg4 player tomorrow also.

Have to say the incident in 1999 with the ball hitting the stanchion and rebounding to the Kerry player to score a goal was one of the worst pieces of umpiring i have ever witnessed and quite frankly we've seen alot the last few years. He was looking right from a yard away at it so surely could have established if it had gone wide or not.

Ah now that was a perfect goal, that was just RTE playing tricks with the cameras :D

I think that was the day we missed a few pens if i remember correctly

Dont get me wrong. Had it happened at the other end (or any other team for that matter) it would also have been grossly unfair. It just probably wouldn't as been as big a psychological blow to Kerry as it was to Tipp.

You make a good point there with o'rourke. They should have offered louth the replay. Again it was a blatant example of weak and incompetent umpiring and the ref took too much of the blame there

Really have to hand it to TG4. They leave everyone else for dead when it comes to GAA documentaries. Have to watch a few more laochra gael episodes now, that was very good

If they released the entire series it would be deadly

    Folks,

    YouTube!

Just finished watching it. I never knew very much about Browne but he was sensational in those games above. Just so natural; he made everything look so easy. His finishing, movement and accuracy are terrific. Speedy guy too, all the while being fairly small.

Loachra Gael also have DJ Carey featured which is good but much preferred Browne's.
