Clutch bite

    Beem having a problem with knocking fly wheel for six months in my skoda 06 octavia diesel - got worse lat few weeks anyway mechanic recommend chane the fly wheel and while at clutch too - got the car back very happy no knocking & new clutch and no shudder when taking off - the bite now is very near the floor is this the normal with new clutch ( first new clutch ever on any car !!)

    I could be wrong, but I think the 'biting point' can be adjusted to suit your taste?

    It depends on how close to the floor we're talking, if its biting when you barely lift your foot off the floor then something isn't right.

    I thought VAG's had the same biting point regardless of how new the clutch is?

    Open to correction.

    My Skoda Octavia MK1 has a looooooooong clutch it's like a tractor after being in a different newer car

    It depends on how close to the floor we're talking, if its biting when you barely lift your foot off the floor then something isn't right.

    The old clutch was going I think from the time I bought the car was very high about 6/8 inches from the floor the new one is probably half that - I can drive off fine with no accelerator and no shudder

    If you have no difficulty selecting gear and no shudder, then it sounds fine.
