I have difficulty sending fax from this new brother muntifunction printer. There is no dial tone on the machine to send out the fax.
I have connected the new cable from the printer to PC modem, so receiving faxes perfectly.
However I cannot send out a fax - could the old cable linking the phone socket to the PC modem be the problem?
    Would appreciate help.

Have you set up the faxing option with the software that came with the Printer?
Have you set the location information in the control panel "Phone and Modem" for windows to be able to detect the dial tone?

But I need to send a fax - loose A4 page - not one composed on PC - is this possible?

Yes, you scan it into the PC and then send it by fax.
