    hi
sorry if this is a silly question as i am a bit clueless.
moved from the UK with our TV , it has the freeview included.

now in ireland plugged the tv in, did a scan, and we can't seem to get any digital channels. we can only get the analogue channels.

what do i need to do?

    ta

You will only get free view if you are around the border area. A good indication as to whether one can get free view or not is if you get channel five on analogue. Your best bet is to get a free sat box or a combi box which will have saoirview on it as well. Check out tvtrade.ie for further details

What part of Ireland did you move to, teamD?

Your TV isn't Saorview compatible if it picked up nothing on the scan (unless you have an aerial problem too).

Only some Freeview equipped TVs will pick up Saorview.

If you think you will get Freeview, as you did in the UK, you won't, unless you are close enough to the border to pick up a signal from one of the NI transmitters.

Your only option other than being close enough to a NI transmitter would be a freesat setup to achieve the same tv you were getting in the UK. - although there are some channel variations between freesat and freeview

What analogue channels do you get?
Did the TV tune in any digital radio channels?
What type of aerial are you using?
