Danny Dutson is 4/1 on PP playing against Ted Hankey at about half 8. Know nothing about Dutson, but considering Hankey's poor form and the short first to 4 legs format of the prelim round, surely the 4/1 is worth a small bet?

Haha thought the same. He looks like half man, half balloon. Would love it if he knocked Wade off his moody perch though. I usually like Wade but he's annoying me tonight.

Throwing great darts,he will be hard done by to lose it.

    Ah bollox.
Double 19 is a nasty one to leave with that pressure on.
Fair play Wade anyway, did well to get out of that.

What a match, Wade v Bunting. How did Wade survive that?

So unlucky Bunting, it's gonna be on his mind now whether he should have split it but I think he was right to go for it. Disappointed he didn't win.

Willie O' Connor won his second round game 4-1. Well done Willie.

Bunting was unreal, he should be proud. That right there is why the UK Open is a brilliant, brilliant tournament. In fairness to Wade, he just apologised for celebrating at the end which is fairly classy. Hankey/King still to come! Who's gonna get the most stick from the crowd?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,326 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Yeah I love this tournament, it's brilliant. The short format, the open draw, the big names against the qualifiers, the outside boards, it's all great. It feels like a proper darts tournament.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 381 ✭✭The Showstopper

How did Wade get away with that? He seemed to be in shock. Bunting was unlucky to land on double 19.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,061 ✭✭✭leggo

Aye, I was saying on the podcast that I do the other day that the early rounds are like watching the red button without pushing the red button. Sky do a great job making a big deal out of the local qualifiers and building them up into stars, has to be said. The texts on screen cheering on the qualifiers, interviews in the crowd etc all add to it. It straddles the line between pub tourney and big time TV event perfectly.

Great win for Jaws. Wade has really gone off the boil. I can't see him winning any major this year.. His form in the floor tourneys is shocking too.

Mental night alrgiht, 3 games going a deciding leg. Whitlock misses a 9 darter on the last dart, Taylor and Baxter both throwing 6 perfect darts in the same leg against each other, Nicholson missing 9 match darts v Ovens and of course Wright busting 138

The UK Open always throws up odd looking finals and surprises, especially on the final day as players start to crack under the pressure of so many televised matches, getting progressively longer and at a higher standard.

So I'd be almost certain we won't see a Taylor/Barney final. I wouldn't be surprised to see Taylor/Chisnall, Barney/Ovens or the like. I've actually sold myself on Taylor/Chizzy there: a rematch of their game at the Worlds, it'd be good and Chisnall is getting better and better in the PDC. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the PL either this or next year.

Thornton through to semi final, beating Newton
