tell us a little more about your 'tipping'

i.e will you be drawing silage bales ( looks like they will be heavy this year) etc etc

aye something that would lift a round bale and pull a wee tipping trailer.. wouldnt mind a ford 4600 but there a bit pricey.

What about a Zetor, 6211, 6011, 7211, 7011 something like that. Well able to lift a bale, economical, good cab. Not a bad run around.

personally like David Brown's 995 and 996's. Thats just because father had both from new. Still have the 996 (will never sell it btw). Will do all you want well within budget. But any tractor of the 70's era will appreciate being under a roof. Only thing about them that annoys ppl is they have narrow doors but not really a deal breaker on a run about tractor. very frugal on juice too which is getting

A 996 with a Sankey cab would be lovely!

    Sweet sounding engine.

Personally I would go for a 4600. There is very little you can't do with one of them and they are extremely reliable. Not as mad expensive as the 4 cyls either.

I'd agree, and five grand should buy you a tidy one too.

One thing I would be wary of is make sure you have a few pound for any unexpected repairs. So if your budget is truly 5k I think you'd want to keep 800 or so in reserve. Plus with tractors of this era its you will nearly always want to spend a few pound tiding up a fer bits and bobs when you get her home. just my view

Ho do I fill the gearbox of a Fiat Agri 90 - 90 tractor? Cant see a bung.

My heater went. To repair . Lift lid on roof. Take off cover . There is a variable resistance in there. There is a lead solder piece running inside the resistance which melts if the motor gets stiff. The extra heat of the resistance melts it. It can be fixed by soldering another piece of wire solder back in.
