Two new golf books are out there if you're looking for a Father's Day present:

Ivan Morris has written 'Life as a Way of Golf', which runs through his 50 years of experience playing the game. I've posted a review on my blog.
The book is available as hardback or e-Book (Amazon)

'The Longest Shot' by Neil Sagebiel (aka The Armchair Golfer) tells the story of the 1955 US Open, when a professional nobody (Jack Fleck) beat Ben Hogan, even after the TV stations had announced Ben Hogan as the winner. I'm still reading the book, but it captures all the drama and excitement of the tournament, as well as giving an insight into the background of Fleck himself and, of course, Hogan.

The book will be available from Amazon.co.uk in July, but it is available now through amazon.com (the book link)

Hmmm, I doubt it. Sure, he'll have to go back and change it, tinker with it and try something different. And once he's happy with one chapter he'll discover one of the other chapters isn't working for him...

    Sorry Paddy.

For Christmas I got my girlfriend's dad a book by some Irish lad who reviewed Ireland's 18 hole courses.

Can't for the life of me remember the name of it - 'Topped' or 'Sliced' or something.

Anyway, he really enjoyed it so if anyone knows what book I'm on about then I would highly recommend it.

It was half a piss take - I was fully aware that it was Kevin's book Hooked. However I did indeed buy it as a gift and the recipient really enjoys reading it so I would recommend.

Ta very much. I had a great 'debate' with someone the other day about my Castleknock review. I'll have to gather a fourball and head back there.

    both books sound interesting

Ivan Morris's other books are great reads - especially for anyone with an interest or knowledge of the amateur circuit over the last few decades

His weekly column in the Limerick Leader is also a good read

the other book sounds very interesting as well
