I'm having trouble deciding whether or not to choose linguistics as a major or not. I'd really like to do it but I'm worried there's a lot of work in it. Can anyone tell me how difficult it is as a major subject?

    :D

    Hey,

Although I only did a few electives in it, if you have a genuine interest in the subject, I'd say go for it. Well I found it easier than a lot of my French and Spanish modules (my joint major). I did Sociolinguistics, World Englishes and Endangered and Minority Languages, all second year modules. There is a lot of reading to do for sure but all the modules I did were composed of continuous assessment, with a final exam worth say 40%.

    Hope that helped! ;)

I only picked linguistics at the last minute and couldn't be happier I did. Modules are well structured and well taught and it all progresses nicely year upon year. I also found it quite easy (apart from syntax II but that's my own laziness) Best of luck with whatever you decide!

    Hey there ladydude!

I did linguistics as a major and Spanish too!
It's a great subject to do! But it's certainly not easy!!

By the way, forgot to mention that I tutor linguistics and give private grinds if anyone is interested ;)
