(Mods - this isn't directly about Terestrial - but might be of interest to most readers of this forum)
I've been using a FREE service called FilmOn for a couple of months and it's quite amazing.

It has all or most of the Freeview channels (except the +1 and HD ones), plus a lot of sport, German, French, Spanish, Italian and oddball ones like The War in Colour, Jewish Life and The Sailing Channel (I've been looking for that for years!). Particularly useful for me is that is has Dave! It does not have Irish Channels (except it thinks BBC NI is "Irish"!)

At the moment it is free - I guess it's a kind of teaser to get you to sign up for their premium channels, and I suppose at some stage there might be some ads in it.

OK: to get it you use your internet browser to go the the FilmOn website (www.filmon.com) and you can watch it there. They also have apps for Android and iPad/iPhone.

I use the iPad app - note it is NOT on the Apple UK store even though they are a UK outfit - I had to use my Apple US Appstore ID to get it (it's easy enough to set yourself up on the Apple US site). The app is particularly easy to navigate. It does not seem to work on TV out mode though.

I found the quality excellent - as good as the BBC Player - there can be the occasional glitch or having to reselect the channel - this might be my WiFi as much as anything.

Be aware that you might easily use up your download allowance, especially if you use it on 3G.

I think it was pulled from the UK and Ireland App Stores. I got it from there for my iPhone but it seems to be gone now.

I see the owner seems to be in and out of the courts with CBS and copyright holders.

Thanks. Hadnt heard of it. Dave aint working for me... Interesting that there is no geo-blocking.

They seem to have a late night area..... I wonder...

    I must have jinxed it!
Dave was off all evening on FilmOn. Many of the uk channels were off too but most came back later.
The nonEnglish and more obscure channels were working ok.
I ended up watching some comedy about bowls England vs Australa on Channel 4!
    Oh well - it's free!

Use this all the time, find it very reliable usually. For those who haven't seen it before have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukfRZN2Iq9U first part is just installing it but towards the end you can see it in action. It's a great little app.

They used to have quite a number of, erm, gentleman's channels, on it before not, sure about it now but I am nervous enough of clicking the "Eighteen Holes TV" button just in case…

Whatever about that, it's the channel called "The Miki Show" that I'm inclined to avoid.:)

Okay, what they're doing is no different from other sites offering illegal streams, except they've given it a nice easy to use interface.

    So thread closed.
