what do you consider wildlife ?

Birds, sheep (wild), Deer, dragonflies/damselflies, butterflies, moths, badgers, foxes etc

are there any parks (national parks or wildlife sanctuaries nearby) .... any lakes ?

tip: get there early - plenty of movement before dawn.... and some animals are only out at dusk/dawn.

suppose get there before the people arrive or after the people leave ...so to give the animals time to feel comfortable and go out for a wander.

Stay down-wind ... to avoid them picking up on your scent....foxes are creatures of habit, so if you find trails or see a fox in a particular area he (or if its a vixen...she) will return to that area...so you have a place to set up your stake-out.

Wildlife photography can involve hours and sometimes days/weeks of monitoring your subject before you get the pic, you should google about various creature habits.
