Simple website with user access

So, amongst my many facebook and other friends I want to set up a clothes swapping website, a very simple and user friendly site, where any registered user can upload photos of items, with a description etc, and other users can reply.
I have made sites using weebly, wix, bravenet etc no problem, and as I dont want to pay for hosting etc etc, I wanted to know if anyone here could advise or suggest a way of doing it.
Most of the free hosted sites dont have the capability to allow user access like that, so would I be better off setting it up via a forum style site like forumer or forumotion etc.?
    Thanks in advance.

I suppose a forum would be one way of doing it. Such as the user creates a new thread and uploads or attaches the pic of the clothes and adds a description.

You could also build the site from scratch using a language such as pho. For this you would also need a database in order to store the relevant information and it would also need to be hosted.

If you do decide to do so, contact me and I can erect a demo for you. I work for very cheap and have excellent experience with such language (PHP) and I guarantee I won't let you down.

Thank you¬ - Unfortunately most forums dont allow direct uploads of pics, you have to upload your images to photobucket and then paste the code, so trying to find one that allows image uploads too¬

I imagine other free forum software has similar plugins/mods/etc

I just completed a phpbb forum myself this week. It's easy once you get into it, and allows users to attach pics etc. There are also really nice themes and styles available to download so you won't even need to go messing any css if you don't want to.

Yeah they are perfect for a lot of things, very wordpress like which suit a lot of peoples needs.

Perfect for the OP needs as if you don't want to pay for hosting I doubt you want to roll your own either.

There are plenty of free phpbb hosting services that do it for free with minimal ads.
