    I'm looking for a half decent mountain bike/ hybrid for use around Dublin City Centre. Don't want anything too fancy looking because the scumbags will rob it but it should be mechanically sound. I'm in Drumcondra. I been up to Rothar in Phibsboro and to yer man on Dorset Street, to no avail...€200 max spend...

    Just something to think about: a cheap mountain bike will weigh about 20kg and will usually have energy sapping suspension and speed killing lumpy tyres, while a cheap road bike will weigh about 10kg and have faster rolling tyres. I know which one I would prefer to ride around dublin. A hybrid will be somewhere in between but closer to a road bike in performance.
