I'm looking to get a new phone and had my heart set on the the SIII but when I saw it in store the size put me off. It just seems a little on the large size for a phone (for me anyways). I have the Galazy S and liked it but with my battery life being less than 16hrs and its freezing issuses for past few months and the fact that my contract is out, I'm searching again.

So my issue as you can see from the title of this post I'm looking at either a HTC One S or Samsung Galazy SII. Can anyone enlighten me as to which way to go??? Thanks, I'm utterly confused!

Have a look at the following comparison site I found yesterday, I think it does quiet a good job of comparing 2 phones

Galaxy s 2 is getting old now. I'd go with the HTC one s. I did consider the s2 but it's old now. The s2 would be a good second hand buy though.

Thats a brilliant comparison site, cheers. :)

Personally I'd go for the One S. Its a newer phone compared to the S2

dympy I was in the exact same predicament as you and when I saw the spec of the SIII, I thought it was way to big. The SII is old now and the one s knocks the socks off it hardware wise, but the one s has no micro sd slot. I have my one s for nearly a month now. I'm happy with it but HTC sense takes a bit of getting used to compared to Samsung touchwiz . So far the phone hasn't crashed out hung unlike my Galaxy S. The 16 GB on board storage is fine for me so far. Try and get your hands on one or any HTC phone so you know what you are in for with HTC sense. One thing that really annoys me about the HTC is the pull ring to unlock, arghh. One extra step to unlock your phone and there seems no way to disable it.

Yeah, the One S probably has the beating of the S2 in terms of internals, but the S2 is great value second hand(€250 to €300). Whats more the s2 has a much larger following so there will be a load of custom roms, as well as official firmware coming out for a good bit yet.

I also prefer the design of the s2 personally, although I generally prefer Samsung phones to HTC. I actually got a a second hand S2 just last week, it was only 4 months old, in perfect condition for €270, thats great value for such a quick handset. I considered the One S but the lack of a microSD card(I use my phone for music..), plus it being at least €100 more for even a used example, put me off somewhat. i was also coming from a Galaxy S which I loved, so the S2 was the natural choice. I'd put the S2 on the grounds as as big a phone as I'd want to own too, even if the s3 was too expensive for me anyway..

The S3 and One X are serious phones but too big IMHO. A quad core phone with a 4.2"/4.3" screen would be perfect. Then again on that point, the battery life does suffer with a quad core probably. I've only had my s2 a few days and the battery life is excellent. The ICS upgrade definitely helped that.I believe the battery life on the One s is supposed to be better than the One X as well

Consider both OP, they are both very fine phones indeed, but don't get the S2 new, its a bit old to pay full price for.
