Why is the Olympic Flame briong paraded around Dublin when the Olympics are being held in London?

Whats the point in having a flame paraded through the city centre??
All that flame did this morning was create city centre gridlock.

There were more pi55ed off people and bemused people than anything else.

The loud aggressive chat between 2 taximen in their cars on O'Connell Bridge (over the gridlock and the flame) was rather funny though.:D

i'd say the thousands of people who have lined the route and were at Howth early this morning might disagree with you.

It's not like they decided this morning to do it, the map and times have been available for ages so it was easily avoided or got around if you had a bit of sense in your head.

The flame normally passes through loads of countries on its way from Greece to the host nation, but they had to curtail it last time as there was plenty of opposition to its being in Beijing.

I think it's a great thing to have happen in the city, I'll warrant it had a minimal impact on city traffic, given that it's normally woejus on any given weekday anyway. And it didn't just appear out of nowhere, the whole thing was planned and notified well in advance, giving everyone plenty of time to plan for the occasion, so anyone that might have been slightly inconvenienced only has themselves to blame for not working around it.

The depth of begrudgery and self-centeredness of some folks boggles me.

So there there was no gridlock in the city this morning then. And not lots of bemused people and angry drivers too??

Wow,I must be seeing things and hearing things then.

PS-Having this happen on a busy Tuesday morning in a major/busy city centre capital is great thinking,no way they could have done it on a bank holiday Monday?

I fail to see how this is a motors related thread. You'd get more of a laugh in After Hours, or perhaps the Dublin City forum.

Anyway, I don't know where you want to move this so I'll close it.
