Nipple Piercing

Hey all, I’m new here, first time every posting..

Well I got my nipple pierced on Sunday. It’s not sore at all, seems to be a little bruised though. I’m just wondering it is normal to still bleed a little. I cleaned it this morning (salt soak) but checked it a while ago and seems to have a small bit of dried blood. it is normal to bleed 3 days after the piercing?

Also was told to get an anti-bacterial soak. can anyone recommend a good one to buy? and any tips to help with the healing process.. I really like this piercing, so want to make sure it heals up nice and quick, with no complications!

Yeah 3 days after a little bleeding is not totally abnormal, much longer I would worry though. The (forgive the phrase) oozing should be more yellowish after a few days. Tiny bit of dried blood isn't too bad, as long as it isn't much and doesn't last long. Make sure you aren't using too much salt in your soak, could be irritating it. Taste it to make sure its pretty mild, kinda like tears.

I just used anti bacterial soap in the shower, regular stuff. Sometimes I used this hibiscrub stuff my sister had lying around from her bellybutton, but soap works just as well, probably even a little more gentle.

Tips, just keep it clean and don't play with it much!

Thanks for advice.. Im leaving it alone apart from when I clean it. I tend to play withmy other piercings but i think i would get odd looks if i walked around with my hand down my bra :D

Kinda goes without saying with any piercings, but make sure to only touch it after washing your hands too.
Or anyone's hands for that matter! :p

Have you a ring or a bar? I had a ring at first and I would wear a bra to bed to stop it moving around too much at first. Might help :) And careful what kind of bras you wear too. No pushups till its healed, and even now I find boned bras pretty uncomfortable and irritating!

Just want to add, always be on the look out in the future for any migration of the jewelry. I did have two piercings on each nipple, one crossed over and one on top of the other.. I found the small bars migrated, and unfortunately the damage done to my nipples meant I have had real difficulties with breastfeeding (five years after removing piercing).. I am probably a more extreme case but be on the lookout for any sign the hole is moving/stretching with the jewelry.
Also I want to add I still (five years after removal) have large large holes on both nipples, and that out of all the body piercings I have had, the scars left on my nipples are the most extreme.

I dont want to put you off but make sure you check the jewelry fits correctly after the healing process, and consult a proffessional if you have any worries, even if you dont intend on breastfeeding the problems I have had with the holes in both my nipples have affected me. I loved the look of the piercings but i can tell you if I could go back I would seriously reconsider, and in the event I decided to keep the piercing in, I would have it checked twice a year incase the hole is stretching/migrating, and that the jewelry is the right fit and type . Hths

That's probably because of the migration TBH.
It's more likely to be left with little 'dents'

Thanks guys, it seems to be healing nicely, I have no irritation at all, I actually wouldn’t even know it was there. I’m keeping a bra on at all times so it’s quiet secure in there, no moving around at all. I had no bleeding or dried blood today so hopefully I’m on the road to a nice healed nipple:)
That’s kind of scary about the scaring, I hope it was only due to the migration. My sister in law has her nipple done, she is actually breast feeding at the moment and says baby actually prefers to feed from her pierced boob. so hopefully the problems encountered are rare ones. I don’t fancy a big holey nipple:)

Yikes, I'm a tad worried now! I had my left nipple done about a 18months ago, and it still gets a little crusty sometimes, is that exceptionally bad? I don't plan on popping out any sprogs in the near future, but I'd be devastated if the piercing meant I couldn't breast feed. When you say migration, (sorry to be exceptionally stupid) what exactly does that mean?

I might get them to check it out soon, I'm going in for my first inking soon..

Hi, dont get too worried, as I said i had two piercings on each nipple which probably didnt help, I had small bars in the nipple which is effected the most, basically migration happens when the piercing has settled, and the piercing slowly sortof grows out, you see people with this mostly on eyebrows ect. basically having the right jewelry for the hole helps, make sure you dont have to small bars where the flesh is tight around the ball or hoop, it is normal to have some crusting etc. Also to add that I could have persvered, unfortunately with me the piercing scars were affecting the flow of the milk, meaning baby wasnt getting usual flow, making the whole process diffucult, i still could have expressed but found this labourious and difficult. As I said get your piercing checked by a good proffesional every few months, thats my advice to avoid migration as a piercer should be able to see the first signs the piercing is moving and adjust the jewelry or advise accordingly x

Hey, I’m going on a spa weekend this weekend, I’m just wondering is it highly recommended to stay away from swimming pools till my nipple piercing is healed? it’s just I know I will want to have a dip but my piercing is healing so nicely don’t want to do anything to change that??

Put some vaseline on it before you go in the pool. Shower afterwards and give it a good wash to break up all the vaseline. I was only recommended not to swim for the first week or so, chlorine is harsh. And then do the vaseline thing for a few other weeks. Just keep up cleaning it while you are away.
