    Hey guys,

    I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't really find anything relevant to my situation.

    I'm considering repeating a 2nd year undergraduate course. I was wondering what fees, if any, I would have to pay. I have all of the medical certs etc. to back up my illness throughout the year.

    Cheers.

    The standard 2011/2012 repeat fee was €2350 (link). With regard to dispensations for medical issues I'm unsure offhand. Talk to the Fees Office or the SU.

    I repeated a year a few years back due to illness.

    "EU Repeat Fees" wasn't around then, first I've heard of that... it used to be if you repeat then you get no government funding so you pay the non-EU fee.

    Either way it sounds like you can still avoid these fees from what they say here;
    I wish to defer my course on medical grounds* what shall I do? Submit your medical evidence and covering letter to the Fees Office indicating that you wish to repeat on medical grounds as a “free fee” student. If the Department of Education agrees to fund you for a repeat year, you will be liable for the student facilities levy student contribution charge for your repeat year.

    At the time I organised and submitted all my medical certs and doctors letters. Write a cover letter explaining the year. It went to a board meeting. I was sick for half the year so they only agreed that I pay 50% fees. By missing and failing more than 12 credits in the Sem I exams I already had to repeat the year (requirement of specific course) so strongly disagreed with that decision but didn't get any further with it. Also the Sem II subjects were continuations of Sem I material so I had little chance catching up on them.

    I'd advise getting in touch with the Fees Office and see what the current process is.
    I'm considering repeating a 2nd year undergraduate course.

    Have you definitely failed or do you want to repeat to get a better mark? (Note repeat will likely be capped at 40%)

    It was reduced to €1600 but yeah, talk to the Fees Office or the SU
