    Hi,
I was just about to check in online and I noticed a spelling mistake on one of our tickets.

Instead of Smith, we put down Smity. Will this be a problem, should I continue the check-in or call ryanair?

If it was my own I would just leave it but because its not my ticket I dont know what to do.

Ah the old Mr and Mrs Smith....

Seriously I did something similar a few months ago with a relations check in. Said nothing to her as she would only blab at the airport and nothing happened. They will be too busy checking the size of your bag.

Other boardsies have had this issue before and a quick call to Ryanair has proved fruitful in having the error amended with no charge.

seriously? That puts Ryanair above other airlines in that case. Our flight T&Cs with Emirates is that if there's a spelling mistake with the names, we'd have to cancel the ticket and repurchase it!

aerlingus did the same for me (abeit as part of a rebooking that they were getting money for anyhow)

slight tangent, but I think i read that ryanair will allow you to use the return leg if you miss the outbound whereas with full service airlines like Lufthansa you loose the return if you dont make the outbound!

and ryanair have a fraction of the number of lost baggage(per journey) than the full service airlines do
And their punctionality is incredibly high (at the expense of you often not being near the city whose name the airport bears, but anyhow..)

still, Ryanair arent as bad as many make them out to be and in some aspects better than the swisher airlines!

I beg to differ...there is simply no comparison between Ryanair and Lufthansa. Sounds like the MOL PR machine has got you good :D

I agree also. Ryanair are usually far superior to Lufthansa in most departments. Way cheaper, more choice of airports, more frequency, newer fleet, friendlier staff, more punctual and less lost bags. (I'm a frequent flyer with LH BTW)OP afaik Ryanair will allow two spelling mistakes on a booking.

I did the same thing last week on a one-way booking from Billund to Stansted - put an "e" instead of an "r" in our daughter's surname (easy to do, they're next to each other on the kryboard - see what I did there?). In order to avoid a potential international incident at the boarding gate, I did a fresh booking for her only. It cost an extra €21 so it could have been worse. Still, it's too bad that we tend to expect the worst of Ryanair in these kind of situations.

How did get on ringing Ryanair?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 118 ✭✭icedtea

So I booked tickets with ryanair for a flight next weekend to Paris.

I booked them in my name- say John Smith

But on my passport it says Jon Robert Smith.

Would that be seen as a problem? Worried now!

    Thanks!

im not having a go at you but there is a thread every few days about this! i cant understand why people dont put their names down exactly as on their passports, very strange!

anyway, ithink most end up ringing ryanair and get them to change it without paying the fee (not that thats their officl stance) search the forum and you will see

My middle name is on my passport and I always book with Ryanair using just my first and last name. I've never had a problem and I've flown Ryanair 20+ times. You'll be fine :)

+1, well minus the 20+ times but never had an issue not having my middle name on the booking but it's on my passport.

This is one of the reasons boards is so useful, it's saved me 110 quid... I'll have to take the girlfriend for Dinner in Paris so....

So is there or is there not a spelling mistake in your booking? If it's just a matter of leaving out the middle name, you already have the answer.

If you need to amend your first name, then call them as suggested...

    Hi,

Looking for bit of help here.

My boarding pass has my first name missing a few letters - don't know how I managed it, laptop must have been poor at the time :o

My first name has the first two letters of my name 'Th' and then my surname is correctly shown. The first name should say 'Thomas'

Will this mean difficulty for me when i try to board the plane? Or will it be obvious that it's an error and they won't bother.

Bear in mind it's Ryanair i'm dealing with, already checked in. just noticed it when i printed out the pass.

If only "T" was listed, you might have had a better chance, but I suspect you won't be allowed to board with this error. Call Ryanair to have it corrected. They may charge you a fee for this.

Where are you going? Do they even look?

    Hi guys

Yes, I know I should have double checked, but will this still be ok?

I read that MR/MRS isn't actually on the boarding pass?

    Cheers

I made the same mistake..booked 2 flights for myself and a friend, his name is Philip. I typed Phiip instead of Philip. I checked their website to see if I could change a name, it said €110 for any changes. Since the flight only cost €52 I was going to take a chance that it wouldn't be noticed at the airport and I would have if I had made the mistake with my own name.
Anyhow I rang a 1520 number at 15 cent per min, the guy on the phone was really nice and changed it for me no problem. The call was over in less than 2 mins. I have to say I'm very surprised that Ryanair didn't make me jump through hoops and charge me a small fortune for the pleasure of doing so.

Airlines ask for the passenger's gender purely for weight (=fuel) calculations. One man masquerading as a woman probably won't skew the numbers too much, unless you believe the scaremongering on that recent C4 program!

In the early days of flight they used to weigh everyone before they boarded, nowadays they use averages for Male, Female, Child and Infant, the old printed tickets used to have the passenger category indicated in a box by M, F, C or I.

If it's not on the boarding card then nobody will notice.
