Jump on the Luas at Heuston. Get off at Abbey St. Walk 2 mins to O'Connell Bridge. Hop on a 4 or 7 bus. The both stop at the RDS. Coming back, you can also get the 27x which will drop you at Connolly Station. You can get the Luas there back to Heuston.

145 bus to Nassau Street and 4, 7 and 8 from there to Ballsbridge.

You could just stay on the 145 and get off in Donnybrook outside Old Wesley and walk down Anglesea Road or Simmonscourt Road depending on which end of the RDS you're going to.

The 46E no longer operates to Heuston, it now terminates on Mountjoy Square.
