Today, I have got a call from this company and asked to come for an interview tomorrow. I of course agreed. Now after doing some research I realised that I cant find this comapny mentioned anywhere...

heres a link to their webiste:simplesalesandmarketing.ie

I found some people on facebook who had 'simple' sales and marketing as their workplace, but i cant seem to find their clients or any sort of mention of the company outside of their site.

Is this a scam? and if so, what should I do?

    Thanks.

Looking at the website it looks like one of those door to door jobs. It's all very very vague.

If the "interview" is anything like mine was, you probably won't get a word in anyway. I effectively sat through 10 minutes of a guy harping on about how great the job was.

By all means, go to the interview.(unless it's out of the way or expensive where you are, you have nothing to lose, and won't have to make any commitments on the day. I could be totally wrong, but be aware if they mention anything about you "becoming your own boss", becoming a manager in 6 months, etc.

I am just after receiving the same call about the interview. Just wondering is it worth going to? I live in Drumcondra so it will be a bit of a trek but is it worth it? Thanks! :)

Read the thread that is about these direct marketing / commission only jobs - plenty of information to help you make an informed decision.
I wouldn't waste the bus fare myself..........

Hi i got a call from these yest for an interview. I applied to this job I saw on Gumtree that was a 'paid internship'. How did anyone get on with this company, as has already been said the website very vague.

be aware if they mention anything about you "becoming your own boss", becoming a manager in 6 months, etc.
Bang in the middle of their homepage: "BE YOUR OWN BOSS" :D
why not train at our business center and become the person giving the orders and become your own boss.

Here's the money: You'll have to take their training before you start, and you'll agree to pay for it under some 'unlikely' terms and conditions.
Many companies are adversely affected by the economy. Simple Sales, however, has never had a quarter where we have not grown, nor have we ever been forced to downsize.
The company was registered in August 2011

    @OP, there is no 'job'.
It will be commission only going door to door trying to pedal crap people don't want. At worst, that crap will be some form of 'income protection' scam.

    -edit-
It seems that Simple Sales and Marketing is a rebrand of PMD marketing

How on earth do people fail to spot these Direct Sales outfits ? If the names don't give them away then the websites certainly do

Young, impressionable people starting out their careers lead astray by empty promises and flashy, redundant job titles and descriptions. And that is said with absolutely no offense intended towards the OP or any of the posters on the thread. I've gotten caught up in the description before, caught on when I read the thread and went to the interview with a skeptical mind. I'm not the first, and certainly won't be the last.

Fortunately media coverage such as this is starting to lift the lid on them.

I am indeed very wary of these sales&marketing companies. I didnt go to interview because it was a different place to the where the ad advertised. I asked in an email exactly wat the position was, it is advertised as office admin, and they said in reply it is an admin paid internship, so are they completely lying? i definitely won't do door to door..worst work in the world!!

Yes , they are lying when they say its an admin job - once you're in the door they would tell you some crap like '' everyone has to start in sales ''.

Oh ok, thanks. I just cant believe these people just lie! They make the recruitment process seem really difficult so as you feel lucky to have the position! Oh what happened to normal jobs, where you get paid for the work u put in

These guys will try anything to get you to join them - their staff turnover is huge ( no surprise there ) and in order to survive they need a constant supply of what I call ' Cannon Fodder '.
I laugh at the descriptions some give of their recruitment process like '' our Managing Director wants to interview you himself '' or '' only a lucky few are chosen '' - fact is once you have 2 legs you're in .
