I see, doesn't list a Birmingham - Waterford route on the map though.

Waterford Airport website are showing it as "on time". Yet next flights due in are shown as "Diverted to Cork".

16:25 departure to Birmingham is showing as cancelled.

Inbound EI 3187 from Luton being diverted to Cork.

    Hope it's not anything serious.

Those Dash's can stop very fast, so hopefully nothing serious as I imagine it would be going pretty slow if it did go off the end?

From what I can tell it shows it as being "on time" ie expected to arrive on time. Looks like it hasn't been updated since the plane actually landed other than to cancel the outbound flight.

Sounds like a minor one so. :)

The flight from Birmingham has now been changed to "Expected 15:50", while the return flight to Birmingham is now down on the Waterford website as "Diverted to Dublin".:confused::confused::confused:

Yeah I hear its minor alright, thank god. No injuries to passengers or crew. The wheels went into the grass. Airport will reopen when the plane is moved.

Simon has it up on The Aviation Herald

    http://avherald.com/h?article=450ac2fc&opt=0
A Flybe de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration G-JEDR performing flight BE-756 from Waterford (Ireland) to Birmingham,EN (UK), was backtracking Waterford's runway and turning around to line up for departure when one of the wheels went off paved surface leaving the aircraft disabled on the runway.

The airport is currently closed until the aircraft can be moved back onto paved surface, an arriving Aer Lingus flight diverted to Cork (Ireland).

Birmingham now shows the flight estimated to arrive with a delay of 4:20 hours.

Just back from the airport, nothing major by the looks at all. Aircraft seems to be stuck at near the 21 end of the runway with left main landing gear and nosewheel in the mud

So it was the DEPARTING flight that got stuck, not the arriving one.

    It's on the airport website

    Waterford Airport incident – June 5, 2012

    June 2012

An aircraft was taxiing at low speed on the runway at Waterford Airport this afternoon prior to take-off when - while turning at low speed - one of its wheels came in contact with the grassed area alongside the runway.
The pilot then decided not to proceed as a precautionary measure. While the incident was minor in nature and not involving injury or damage, it will regrettably cause disruption to passengers this evening.

Congrats to thejournal.ie for it's outstanding reporting, if it wasn't for them we wouldn't know aircraft could skid at off the runway while turning to line up.

Can't wait to hear the reports of the passengers who thought a bomb went off, feared for their lives etc...

Yes they do and it has been running since the 25/3

I heard they had to get a huge crane down to lift it out. Didnt get out of the mud until after midnight. I wonder did it take off that late, or what happened to the passengers? Either way, I feel sorry for the pilot. :p
