    Hi all,

has anyone heard of these guys?
I'm finish up in TCD and thinking of applying

    http://www.tcd.ie/Careers/vacancies/job_details.php?vacancyID=15850
Novus Futures is a Dublin based proprietary trading firm. We offer a comprehensive training and mentoring program for those who have a passion for the financial markets and the world of trading.
    WHO WE ARE:
    - Over 10 years of experience in global markets.
    - Highly motivated team of traders, risk and IT professionals.
    - Dedicated to delivering the very best in investment and trading opportunities to those who are serious about performance and development in the financial markets.
    - Continuously looking to develop the next generation of traders.
it's worth noting there is no pay, which is normal enough for the futures trading programs in Dublin
The position will initially involve 8 - 10 weeks of training which is 'unpaid'. The applicants that make it through the training will then be paid a basic sum per month (probably around E1,500 - E2,000) with the majority of their income coming by way of a % of their trading profits.

There is no guarantee that candidates will make it as far as the 'paid' part of the internship.

I think Novus is a new trading firm in Dublin. 1 or 2 man operation....but a talented one or two man operation if they are the guys I think they are.

We also offer grad programs and hire once or twice a year a class of 10-15 people. We train them up, they join our trading desk and become successful traders.

Please check our very humble website at www.positive.ie or follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/#!/Positive_Equity

Best of luck in your job search guys.

From what I know about Pos Equity would it be true to say that you place a particular emphasis on a track record in a competitive sport?

We actively recruit people with a record of success. If you would like more information, please contact info@positive.ie

For sure, but people with a record of success in academics are not as highly regarded as those coming in with a record of success in sports/entrepreneurship. It might be useful for people who are interested to know how you define success that's all!

Good points there Sallywin. Please check out our very modest website for additional information on our training program, contact info@positive.ie if you would like information, or follow us on twitter @Positive_Equity.

The animal spirit is alive and well in all types of achievers, even those in intellectual areas like music and academics.

    Hi Jason,

Do you accept re-applications from guys that interviewed with Positive Equity before but just didnt make it through to round two?

    Regards

It's unusual. It's generally not the performance during interviews but simply your historical background. If you had trading experience and a track record however, then I would definitely reapply.

If his historical background was wrong, why call him for interview? i.e. wouldn't you have known that prior to the interview?

It wasn't anything to do with my academic historical background thats for sure..

They seem like a great place to work for though.

I cocked up on some of the interview questions!

One of them being "What is the biggest risk I ever took?"

And "What would your expected salary be?"

The guys that interviewed me didn't seem to have a sense of humour Jason!!! :)

What are the working hours in Positive Equity? I have heard that the newly founded Novus Futures have their trainees in for 6.30am on the button and are there until 10.30pm with a few breaks spread throughout the day.
    Serious stuff!

it's worth noting there is no pay, which is normal enough for the futures trading programs in Dublin

A friend of mine had an interview a few weeks back with them. Stephen Lonergan is the Director of trading and has two other colleagues from his former employment in Geneva working with him there.

My buddy got to the second round interview but didn't get among the final 3 that were selected in the end.

He told me that if I was to apply that a lot of it hinges on differentiating yourself from every other cv they get and the only way of doing that is by being creative in your cover letter.

Apparently these guys ask a lot of questions to test your macro view knowledge within Ireland firstly, then Eurozone and further afield thereafter.
Thats where he messed up in his interview he reckoned.

Emm oh yeah they asked him some question on random multiplication on the spot eg 25 multiplied by 35 and you have 5secs to answer. He was saying they like to see how you think on your feet when under pressure.

Apparently these guys are the real deal aswell with high 6 figure salaries to back it up!
