I've picked up the Scientific American Mind in airports a couple of times and always found it to be a great read.

Are you a member of a professional body, they usually supply their own. Or you could subscribe to another bodies journal depending on your position.

Its not a magazine subscription but the APA (American Psychological Association) have a monthly magazine that you can read online called Monitor,

    http://www.apa.org/monitor/index.aspx

Also a Newsletter called International Psychology,

I have been browsing around like yourself trying to find stuff to read, but subscriptions to journals are expensive! I'm trying to find a balance between academic journals and pop psychology magazines.
