    People,

Mate has been asked to price up a milking parlour, Manger type?
He has all the experience in concrete and groundworks but not so much in pricing for agricultural works.

Is there any ballpark method he can submit under, knowing that as it's his first attempt he probably wont get this one but, after a few, he hopes to have it nailed.

He is working off hardware manufacturers drawings and whatever conversation he had with the farmer re inclusion of items.

38ft(L) x 2'10" (D) pit; Shed lean to roof 66ft(L); minor internal walls, ACO drains and sumps, external hardstanding areas, electrics.

Basically leave ready for the hardware to installed by others.

Any help welcome as he must have qoute back by Friday this week.

    Cheers.

    I agree.
Surely it's a matter of understanding his costs and adding his required profit margin. As above a contingency might be a good idea but I'd rather an agreement with the customer on genuine over runs. It keeps the quote down and yet covers for unknowns.

    Also.
I'd recommend actually talking to the equipment supplier before breaking ground. All too often I've seen parlours compromised because a drawing was wrong or misinterpreted by a builder. It's just agro for all parties that could easily be avoided. Step through the plans carefully so everyone is happy up front.
