    This month's Cycling Plus tests some similar bikes in this price bracket. The winner was the Focus izalco ergoride with the Olympia Ego coming in 2nd.

    thanks for the advice guys. I'll check those out. One q on Canyon, are these bikes pure racing machines or are there relaxed gemoetries available? Just to reiterate, I won't be racing!

    The Roadlite is pretty relaxed. The Ultimate AL and CF are racy but not excessively so - the head tubes are long-ish as race bikes go.

    The Focus Izalco Ergoride is described as "Its sloping top tube and taller head tube allow you to ride in a more relaxed position"

    The particular model that won the Cycling Plus test this month is the Ergoride 4.0 '12 and is in your price bracket @ £2,000. The spec looks great for the money - details here: link

    Might also be worth your while getting a copy of the mag to see what they said about the other bikes in the test (The Canyon wasn't included :()
