If it was OK for a few days it might just be a temporary problem due to the very good weather and high pressure at the moment. It should go back to normal in a day or two.

If it has been happening every second since you set it up then the problem is a weak signal. A professionally installed outdoor aerial will help.

In very, very good weather this can happen even with a good aerial. It has always been happening in the past, however with the analogue signal normally it would be seen as ghosting and the wrong station rather than freezing.

They really should let people know about this.. I spent a whole day rewiring my coax cable and fixing the joints to the aerial on the roof and moving it around...

Could they not get Tubridy in and do a voiceover telling people, before he goes off on his holidays..

Tell them what? That they should get someone who knows what they're doing to install their aerial?

Test the box in a neighbours house.

I have been away for a few days, switched on tv and saorview picture is breaking up. Checked signal level, unchanged at 94%, but signal quality is 14%. generally signal quality is close to 100% so something has changed. Tried reinstallig channels but no change.

I checked analogue terrestrial and that is ok, so whats going on??

Found this on the saorview.ie site.

    CLERMONT CARN

Channel: 53, changing to 52 at Oct 2012
    Polarization: V

    Have they changed channel already.?
Does this mean I need to retune the tv if so??

No channel change at Clermont until switchover.

This transmitter is using a temporary aerial setup until then & coverage won't be great in some areas. I think you've been advised of this before.

But it is now unwatchable. It was fine last thursday and I have been using same setup since the original tests.

That is why I asked the question as signal level is exactly the same as before but signal quality is extremely low.

I'll try changing to channel 52 this evening.

There will be nothing on 52 until end of October.

If analogues are fine they may be doing some work at the site. Really worry if you get a bad signal in November. Then you may need to do something

Thanks, its bad timing considering the euros are on. I was looking forward to watching the games in HD, now I will have to watch satellite on bbc or itv.

Irish analogue reception looks awful on my big screen. Its looks okay on my backup though. a 21inch crt.

Have you tried realigning your aerial for Kippure & see what channel 54 is like?

With my alba saorview box the picture is freezing but you can hear the sound. I tried a saorview approved TV on the same aerial and it worked perfectly so it has to be the box.
