Edision Argus 2in1 – Terrestrial Channels Gone

I recently purchased this combo box, new, off the net:

    http://www.hm-sat-shop.de/en/hdd-receiver-hdtv-edision/edision-argus-miniplus-highspeed-2in1-hdtv-sat-und-dvb-t-combo.html

I installed all my channels, both satellite and Irish DTT. All were working fine. I hadn't been watching that TV for a couple of days, but when I returned, all the terrestrial channels were gone. So, I tried going to the 'Installation' menu to see if I could reinstall or change them, but the 'Terrestrial Installation' setting was gone, just disappeared off the menu.

I have checked the aerial connection and it works fine to the TV, without the box, so it's a problem with the box or a setting I think.

    Can anyone help? Thanks.

Try upgrading the F/W, if this doesn't work send it back to where you got it for a replacement as the box is faulty.

    Menu options dont just disappear.

Did you flash firmware to the box ?

Just tried adding .abs Channel list from USB. Had created Channel list on previous version of Edision Argus Combo. It didn't work.

.abs are not channel lists. They also contain the firmware for the box. Specifically, ALI chip firmware files for specific receivers. ABS files are not interchangeable outside manufacturer brand names as they have a bootblock on them to stop people flashing them with other receivers. Flash it with the wrong .abs file it can kill the receiver altogether.

Most likely, you have flashed a firmware for the satellite only version of Edisions receiver range, hence no terrestrial scan in the menu.

Download the proper firmware for your box from here and load it to your receiver and the terrestrial option will reappear.

    http://www.argus-family.de/software/Edision.mini.highspeed.09052012.zip

Zipped archive - extract the .abs file from this zip and load to your box via usb. Maincode and bootloader.

File is called "Edision.mini.highspeed.09052012.zip" Make sure!

Do I need to unzip that file before loading it to my USB?

See the link quoted in your response, please edit it and delete the link. This is important. The new edision 2 in range is called highspeed. Only flash this firmware to it.

I have changed my original response to you to give you the proper link to the right firmware.

And yes is the answer to your question.

Cool. I will give this a go. Is there anywhere I can get a non .abs channel list?

Will you edit your quote of me and take out that the link thats there (I had replaced it in my edit).

The ABS file is the firmware combined with other things such as the channel list.

I am not fullly familiar with the edisions, but ABS files mean that their should be an option in the USB upgrade menu that allows you to load just the userdb which is the channel list. You would need to find someone with the exact same model to grab same.

Do not use channel lists from other model Edisions or Fergusons. Just because they are an ABS file, does not mean they will work on your box.

Well, downloaded the software you had linked on your post above. Loaded it on my USB and set it up from scratch. Terrestrial option still not showing up on my menu options.

What are the options in the USB upgrade menu ? Is there one for allcode+ bootloader ? Clicking left & right changes the flash mode?

When it completes you may have to go into the factory reset menu and say yes.

Did the all code and bootloader. It restarted itself when it was finished. Didn't see anthing about Factory Reset.

Not beyond possibility that Edision have uploaded the sat only version on the 2n1 version on their website. (there is a different firmware number on the greek edision site which is really making me wonder).

You could email them (in Germany). You are sure it is not an option in the menu ?

There is also unofficial software that opens up all kinds of extras like youtube, USB wifi etc. Its called ILTV. Interesting box.

Sorry cant help you further but I dont have one.

OK. So I have sent the box back to the company I bought it from, but they have returned it telling me that there is no problem with it. There is still no DTT option showing up on my menu. I have upgraded the software to the latest version. Still nothing. Could this be a problem with the TV being a Saorview TV? the box is hooked up to the TV using a HDMI cable... I really can't think of what else I can do...

Are you sure you are not downloading the Satellite ONLY version of the firmware ??? Because there is a Satellite only version of this box. That firmware would definitely not have the Terrestrial function within it.

You are sure you have the Combo model ? The aerial ports beside the satellite input give it away.

    This is the right firmware....

I presume you have an aerial plugged into the aerial in port on the box. (no it is nothing to do with Saorview TV)

this is intriguing, i have an edison mini 2 in 1 but the first one. if i ever had a problem i would do a factory reset, then change language to english, and country to uk, then on menu find satellite installation and at bottom it should say terrestial installation, then press red button for scan ie will do automatic.

you will also have the option to use scart or hdmi for output and that is changed in menu as well.

it is not that we dont believe you but if edision said it is ok then it should be, however if the bit you require is not in the menu and you could take a screenshot you could email that to edison, did you do a factory reset? or better still put screenshot on here, also if you go to information on menu it will tell you the software version. i dont use edision anymore, use a version that gives me 7 day epg and an hd menu.

if software was buggy a reset should do it.

How do I do a factory reset?

If it is the original edision software it should show on one of the menu options, mine is under information, default setting = factory reset

Tried resetting to Factory Settings, but still no Terrestrial option.

Have an older version of the Edision Combi Box, so tried that to make sure the problem wasn't with the aerial/satellite. All the terrestrial channels loaded fine. I have upgraded again to the latest firmware on the new box.

Thanks for the help. I had already sent it back and they returned it to say it's working fine. Really Un-German-Like.

if you could I would appreciate it. My friend has one of these, I sorted out her channels one day, put them in a decent order, only for her to delete the file I saved, then she pressed sort a-z!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭swoofer

hi, this is the file, i have renamed it to pdf, just rename it back to abs, the dtt is maghera so will have to be re tuned.

but be warned it may include the software as well. there is a facility to upload channel list only so select that.

i have forgottten how the edision works

and i had box linked to a motorised dish so more than one sat.
