Amazon order 'not yet dispatched'

I ordered a laptop early this afternoon and it is still on 'not yet dispatched' - is this normal?

It still gives me the option to cancel and everything.

    Thanks

It's Sunday and also a bank holiday weekend. It will probably be dispatched some time next week.

Ok thanks, so it's normal for it not to change to 'dispatching soon'?

Never ceases to amaze me the disconnect that people have with reality when they do anything online.

BTW if you ordered on Amazon.co.uk or from a UK supplier, you are unlikely to see it shipped this side as Wednesday as both Monday and Tuesday are public holidays.

They give you an estimated delivery date in the order confirmation e-mail. You can click the link in that e-mail to check the order status as often as you like but the next time you hear from them will be when the order is dispatched.

As the poster above has stated, they are off now in the UK until Wednesday as they got an extra bank holiday for the jubilee. I doubt if your order status will change until Wednesday because I can't see Amazon working over this weekend, especially as a lot of people in the UK wouldn't be at home to accept delivery. If you want to cancel it you can, as long as it hasn't been dispatched you'll have no problem cancelling an Amazon order.

Depends where its coming from - they have a dispatch centre in Ireland so could dispatch earlier. Don't panic - they're pretty quick on delivery (usually!)

I would agree. Anything I've ordered has been delivered as per the indicated date. I would suspect that the delivery date will take account of any public holidays so I would go by the delivery date and not the dispatch.

I'd assume that's more to do with Royal Mail not operating in Ireland? :p

They have data centres, sales support, next gen tech experts and a forwarding partner in Ireland (an post), but not a dispatch centre.

Parcels are sent here on pallets / in cages, delivered by a third party and delivered to an post with relevant local anpost "paid" label already attached.

I'm waiting on an order from amazon which I bought using the free super saver option, It's over due now by a few days and I'm wondering if I went to the sorting office with the order number would they be able to follow it up for me?
I know it's not trackable but items I've previously bought had a couple of bar codes on the box.

    Apologies for going off topic.

No, not at all. The order number on Amazon has nothing to do with the Post Office, and they can't do anything without an actual tracking number. It might be worth ringing them to see if there is a package there in your name, just in case a delivery was attempted but the notification either got lost or was not left off. In that case it would be waiting for you to collect. If it's not there, there's nothing else the Post Office can do.

The onus is on Amazon to deliver anyway, so if it doesn't arrive you can contact them and have it re-sent. You may have to wait several weeks though.
