Using excel I have row 1. Every cell is conditionally formatted to turn red, green or amber based on a word in the cell.

I want to format the cell below in row 2 to be the same colour based on the conditional format of the cell above./

Does anyone know what I mean or know the answer,

Row 1 - cellls will be green, red or amber

Row 2 - cells will have the same format as the cell above

    Select column A.

If you want the whole column red when it says Dave in A1, hit Conditional Formatting

Formula is (rather than Value is) =$A$1="Dave"

Choose your formatting & hit OK

I'm working from memory, but I'm pretty sure that'll work.

Here is an ida of what I mean.
Row 1 is conditionally formatted to turn a color based on profit loss or in production.

I want row 2 to be the same colour as row 1.

    Is that better explained

The theory should work, just choose the row instead of column.

Edit: you may need to select B1, do the described above, but without the $s, then use the Format Painter to copy that formatting across the row.

this should be what you want.

So you add a new rules and use the "Use a formula to determine which cells to format"
Then Manage Rules and add the other colors.
If you are only doing the one line the $ is not needed.
