    Hello all,
I have been thinking of taking up Muay Thai or Kickboxing and am wondering which to pick and where to do it.

K2c in blackpool seem to have both and I know the Fighting Fit gym has Muay Thai on most days which is handy.I found a Kickboxing place on the centre park road called Munster Ireland Kickboxing academy but for all these places I don't know which to pick!

Does anyone know any of these instructors and which would be my best bet? They both seem similar but the thai boxing seems to use more knees which is my limited understanding! Which would be better? I guess I want all round conditioning and obviously self defence. Are there any other places that would be good?

    Thanks

Your opening up a can of worms asking which is better betewen Kickboxing and Muay Thai :)

Your best bet is to try both and judge for yourself which suits you best.

The 3 bigger Thai gyms in Cork are...

    Siam warriors
    Sitjapetch
    Cork Thai

PS. The answer is Muay Thai ;)

Nice bit of character assassination there.

I agree about it being a really good gym to train in.

Are you after a technique baswed work out or a cardio based one? I train at K2C and the kickboxing there is pretty much only teens. The Muay Thai has a better mix of crowd and a far better workout. I would not recommened you go in without a small level of fitness though. I have seen people drop out during the warm up never to be seen again.

A big plus for K2C is the pricing and plenty parking.

Cork Thai I have heard is a pretty excellent facility as well, but I do not train there, so cannot comment any further.

Ok, that's a bit of a trek for me. Anything similar in cork city centre? I'm just looking for a good workout. I used to go to ye on Douglas St and I thought it was a great session.
