Car Door Hit and Run

My drivers side back door was hit in a residential parking area yesterday and the person didn't leave any details.
There was a car parked in the area with some damage to the front and appears to match the damage caused to my own car.
The Garda said that it probably cant be proven so I'm wondering does anybody know if I can claim from my insurance or some unidentified driver insurance (MIBI) without my premium being increased?

    Cheers.

Bet that Garda would try harder if it was his car.
Go back to the Garda and get him to investigate this fully. Has he spoken to the owner of the other car? Taken a sample of paint? Done anything? Its just laziness in his part if not.

I'd be taking pictures of everything. And do it now.

MIBI is a non runner unfortunately. You need to identify the uninsured 3rd party.

Claiming on your own policy will affect your NCB, unless it's protected.
