Thanks Pistol, is it too complicated?

I just want one to see how far I hit the ball and to see how far it is to the green.

Get the garmin S1 watch or the unit I posted up above , that golf buddy comes with a cap that it fits into and then speaks your distances to you , you can see them also .

As the lad in my local shop said it to me , a bit of gimmick / novelty

Hi all looking at this as for a gps.
    http://www.mcguirksgolf.com/golf-buddy-voice-gps/gbh9905pd.html

Anybody use it and recommend it or not or recommend any others?

    Thanks

Pretty much brand new on the market, don't think you'll find many who've used it

I have used it, its spot on. you don't have to use the hat. i clipped it on to my belt. turn it on when you arrive and by the time you get your spikes on, it will find your course for the day, before you hit the yardage button stop walking and
give it a couple os seconds to be more exact, I find this with most GPS's.

After handling it I'd stay away from it,it's feels very flimsy.
I imagine I'd break it too easy
I'd have the other one posted and it's perfect

Surely its a gimmick. How annoying would that thing be chatting away to you while everyone else is trying to concentrate on their shot.

Ild imagine it would be useful if you were blind, otherwise it serves no purpose.

Thanks all think I'll go with the garmin. Is it very accurate with shot distance and yardage to the hole?? Do you have to wait for the course to load?

    Thanks

it doesn't Chat away, only speaks when you hit the button, and there is volume control, and IF you like you can turn the volume down and use the screen, no more of a gimmick the any other GPS, a lot more compact too!
the purpose it serves....strangely enough is to give you the distance to the front, middle or back of the green!

Ah ya, I'm sure it's as good as any garmin product, but I dont get the voice thing. What's wrong with the traditional way of just looking at a screen for the information

I suppose its just another version of the same theme, I gotta say I found it very handy. We have sold quite a few more of them than expected to be totally honest, obviously price is a big thing.
Gonna demo the Garmin this week.

End up buying the German s1 today and tried it out on the course today. Loved it!!

Had a look in the shop at the golf buddy. It was very very small and I definitely would have lost it at some stage!

Yardage on the garmin is spot on and I like the shot measurement. I would have liked the score taking (it is on the s3) but I paid €169 for it so happy out!!

Thank you all for the advice!

How would it compare to the Japanese, French or American one?
