Why was the Master Battes Thread Locked?

Remember him well, and Master St. Charles, in particular the UCD event, I won an "All Ireland Sparing" Champion and "All Ireland Kata Champion" back in the day. I was 15 or 16 at the time!

I remember him bringing in Master Toddy, which scared the hell out of a lot of very senior MA at the time!

The UCD thing finished,as far as I know, on the back of a weapons Kata Bo vs Nuncaku(sp?) gone wrong, when the Nun Chucks hit a women in the crowd and legal stuff stop St. Charles returning!

I was only a kid but I remember that Tournament was a big deal at the time, a true "Open Event"

Wasn't Carol (Stevenson?!?!?!!) of Blackrock Kung Fu involved with Master Battes too?

Let me stress I never trained under, him but I do remember him being very open, turning up at many courses form Sport Karate competition fighting to CQB stuff.

He did seem to be open in his approach to his open MA at the time.

The original thread, while having the usual "knockers" was locked down after very few post, not trying to stir things, as I am vey far removed form those heady day of the 80's now, but just wondering Mod's, did I miss something?

Not because of the content. Only because it was a 7 year bump I'm guessing.
