I have seen these lately and think there are probably one of the best tractors massey has ever made. I am wondering what is multipower? I have been told its like another gear and there is a lever you push when you need it can anyone explain it to me properly?
I was considering getting one later on as a restoration project and i have come across a few 4wd drive ones and i was hoping to convert a 2wd one if it possible to 4wd. I was wondering would it cost alot and can conversion kits be bought?.

I am a big fan of them too. I dont know why it was never the best place to spend a day. Multipower is like overdrive and was a small lever on the dash.
High multipower was faster, gave a little more power and engine braking. It was easy to forget that in low multipower the tractor will take off on you going down a hill which was not fun if you had a load of wet silage behind you. I have seen a few 4x4 1 series massys but the only 188 4x4 that I have seen was in Classic Tractor magazine 2 or 3 years ago it belongs to a man in the north of Ireland and was valued at 10,000 then.
I will have one in my collection when I win the lotto.;)

Yes i seen that edition alright with your mans 4x4 she looked class i did go into a dealer yard recently and he had a 185 4x4 in his shed for vintage runs and also a 2wd drive one as well.I believe the 4x4 on these was a conversion kit that was made by the same crowd that made them for the ford county but i am open to correction on this.
