    Hello.

Iv recently finished a year course in applied science and Iv applied for Elec Eng and a computer science and robotics course in different colleges. As I'm a mature student I don't have much experience of programming but the bit and the bit I did do I loved and I feel a better understanding of these systems would be of great help if I do get accept.

Im just wondering is there any such courses available in cork that I would be able to get through FAS ?

I'm on a similar course at the moment. The initial learning curve isn't so bad if you have some experience with Java or a degree in the area or something. Heh, we were all slated to do an OCPJP qualification at first, looks like they've adjusted to reality already - now our tutor has decided to place the not-so-strong people on the Associate track.

In our place, the course is contracted to one company, and is subcontracted to another company. So you've got the main company looking after the admin side of things, and the subcontracting company actually doing the tutoring.

In my experience we have a tutor running his home, own business and tutoring to a class all at the same time. Pity, the guy seems to know his stuff - and no, he doesn't have an Oracle Java qualification either. Didn't need it apparently.

So far, I get the impression that it could be run much better. Both our main tutor, and a guest one that did the Job Seeking module aren't that well prepared. It's usually a case that the tutor is typing up the next exercise with notes just as we're doing the previous one.

In my case, I'm beginning to hear the phrases, 'Have you thought of setting of setting up your own business' and 'Perhaps you could consider progressing to third-level', more and more. If one was a recent college grad, would one really have the money, industry contacts/experience or confidence to do that?

In any case, OP if you want to do this course get on the list ASAP - these have a long waiting list.
