Can somebody tell me how I would go about starting a Ph.D at DCU? Would I even get into a program? I have an 2nd. Class honours business degree from Dublin Business School and I am also a CFA Charterholder (NARIC has it benchmarked as the equivalent of a UK Masters Degree/EQF Level 7/NQF Level 9). I would like to do it in Finance - possibly some aspect of frontier markets.

    Thanks in advance, Soddy.

Currently doing one myself - in humanities.

1 - find a suitable supervisor from the relevant school.

2 - Write up a proposal to him / her and send to him / her - make sure you do plently of research on their area of research so they know your work would interest them

3 - Meet to discuss if they are agreeable.

4 - If supervisor agress, he / she may make suggested changes.

5 - Once you have final proposal done - log on to www.pac.ie and apply. It will cost €50 I think (it's like the CAO).

6 - After 2 weeks you will be advised if you have been successfull

7 - I assume you will not qualify for funding from SUSI so you will have to see if DCU has any relevant scholarships for you, otherwise time to get a loan.

    best of luck!

The Question I would ask, is weather you'll be funding yourself or you looking for funding ?? because if your looking for funding, the issue is little harder then just applying to PAC:D
