    Fuzzy topic, i apologise.

Thing is that i have my profile setup on Monster.
I send a few applications, hear nothing in return.

Then i update my CV, and *BANG* 2,3 agencies wants my cv and they have the "perfect job for you, just send us your cv and read the info about the position."

    Then nothing. For days.

As of today i chased one agency that would get back to me "later in the afternoon".

That was a week ago. So i emailed the person again this morning, only to just now receive a "sorry, they didn't pick you, but we keep the cv blablabla."

Am I (and i know this will sound bad) supposed to chase THEM down?
Or do they just simply don't care to inform people unless they get the position?

It's making me a bit angry. But yes i know, if i want a job, i will have to work for it.

IMO Ignore anything that isn't specific about a job and you. Any generic or general is simply spam.

    I suppose i can relate.

I had my CV on Monster for , oh, must be 3/4 years at this stage - updated it about 3 months ago and BAMM , hit with, what i thought at the start, where potential employers, looking for me!, but i was sadly mistaken, ALL where employment agencies saying, like you said " oh , your a perfect fit for one of our roles, or give me a call and i can discuss your employment.. yada yada...

i called one, maybe two... i applied for a job, through them, and same thing, heard nothing back.

I chased, with a phone call, and email, both went unanswered.

I now stick to applying for jobs, where they are advertised soley by the employer, it tends to get better feedback aswell

    just my two cents :D

Yes and many others just a few though, some are genuine others not so much.
They send a message say they found something suitable, you send your cv to them and they come back to you and say your aren't qualified or experienced enough despite a strong cv blah blah.

If they are that desperate I ask them straight out for a job spec or a more detailed one than just skimmed down!

I updated my cv recently and they had the cheek to ask was it a most up to date cv.

Okay, I am not the only one. I thought my issue with the agencies was because I am a foreigner.

Anyway, it seems their goal is to merely bank CV's with the promise that whenever someone dies at Ideal Job, Inc. you'll have an interview.

Yup, you've pretty much got the drift.

Personally I never send a CV to an agent unless I want them to get to know me for some strategic reason, or they have sent me a JD for a specific job.
