work in town, live in a commuter town. Want to drive to phoenix park, park as near or as far to parkgate st as I fancy on chesterfield, cycle rest of way into town.

Recommend me a bike rack for a single bike and anyone see any issue with doing the commute this way? any security issues? Do lads who do this currently, do you have to unstrap the rack and put it in the boot until you get back to it evening time?

i did it for a while, but allways put the rack in the boot. Ended up buying an estate, which was easier. tere were normally some cars up there with racks on all day, dont think they had any problems. seems safe enough, but im a bit paranoid.

A chain lock or a cable lock threaded through the towing eye and wrapped around the rack is what I use for security on my rack.

I got a Saris Bones 2 which fits in the boot handily enough without having to adjust it and my boot opening is quite small.

Are roof bars and bike carrier fitted to them an option on your car?

I used to do this, but my car has rails so it was easy enough to get bars and a Thule carrier fitted.
