    You could try:

    Otto Car parts
    Euro Car Parts or
    GSF

The only places you will get the exact springs for your car are either new from VW or secondhand from another R32.

They aren't that expensive from VW as far as I know, around €90 each.

Place I work for import coil springs, among other parts. I am sure we would be able to source them, from the OE supplier. I have recently gotten M-tec shocks, racing clutches et all. I am not in work until Tuesday, but if I remember I will look into them.

OP try the local motor factors. The might need to be ordered in, but it is possible.

I know springs are usually available for most cars but this situation is an exception to the best of my knowledge. As far as I am aware there is nothing available in a standard replacement spring from the usual suppliers for the R32. I know you can get rear springs from the likes of KYB or Monroe for the Audi S3 and TT which are based on the same platform as the R32 but there is nothing listed for the R32. The TT or S3 springs will physically fit the R32 but won't be the correct spring rate and/or height.

VW dealer quoted €117 each (spring) plus VAT @ 13.5% plus fitting... It sure adds up!

€117 ex VAT is pretty expensive alright, I priced a pair for an Audi TT recently and they were working out at €105 inc VAT.

Are they both broken or is just one broken?

You could try posting a wanted ad on http://www.vagdrivers.net for a secondhand spring or pair of springs.

Pair of rear springs needed. Both cracked at the base, hard to see but one can feel them when running a finger around the spring. Bit of a bore, car never failed test before. Drives well.
