TNA Hall of Fame 2012 (*TNA Spoilers*)

No clue what to put as the title to avoid spoilers. Feel free to change it.

Anyway, last night Dixie Carter announced the start of the TNA Hall of Fame with the first inductee happening at Slammiversary. Hopefully they keep it at one per year instead of going the WWE route and adding 10 or so every year. If they keep it at one a year it will be the best of the best for quite some time.

TNA have had a lot of wrestling legends pass through the company over the last ten years but since it's a TNA Hall of Fame, surely that means the first inductee is a two man race? AJ Styles and Jeff Jarrett. The other likely being the 2013 inductee. The likes of Angle, Sting etc will all get in but it would be a joke if they got in before Styles and Jarrett. I'd probably put Jarrett ahead, but wouldn't complain if Styles got it instead.

Who do you think will get it?

Jeff Jarrett has to be number one. It would be ridiculous otherwise.

I'm thinking Styles (add more into his feud with Kaz and Daniels than his "affair" with Dixie :p) but Hogan said Sting is the No. 1 man so could be him

It has to be Jarrett. I don't think it's AJ's time and I'm sure he still has plenty to give to truly cement HOF status.

Hogan will tell you AJ is a young up and comer. :P

I was thinking it would be Sting, then Roode would interfere in the ceremony, but the more I think about it, probably will be Jarrett.

I know it doesn't really matter, but would they want their first inductee to be a heel?

    Kurt Angle
Honestly knowing Hogan's ego I'd put him down as first one. Not because he deserves it but because he's the name most people would recognise.

    Sting
Styles I'd say,as he's been there since day one and done basically everything in the company. Also, aren't they doing an angle where he's supposed to be dicking Dixie on the side or something?this would play perfectly into that.

Though thinking about it, I wouldn't be opposed to it being Don West.

Outside chance of it being James Storm?

Yeah, i'd agree that it has to be the most important person to TNA, that being Jeff Jarrett. You can do the honoured wrestlers afterwards but it was Jeff, his money and vision that got this started. Given that he's not on TV these days would strengthen that.

There's plenty of time to 'honor' the old-timers who came in, waved at the camera and left. The first one should go to Jeff.

    For me:
    2012: Jeff Jarrett
    2013: AJ Styles
    2014: Sting
    2015: Kurt Angle
    2016: Hulk Hogan

Ah yes, that nice fat sum of $300,000 that Vince coughed up for him to wrestle at No Mercy 1999 going a long way towards starting TNA :D

As much as I love Hogan, I don't think he's done anything of note to warrant a place in the Hall Of Fame. He hasn't had great matches there and he hasn't boosted ratings or PPV buys, guys like Samoa Joe, Abyss, Bobby Roode, even Awesome Kong and Gail Kim should go in before him.

I also don't think one guy a year is enough, maybe should be one guy every six months or two per year simultaneously.

That's why he is 2016. I wouldn't put him in, but he is the biggest name in wrestling. If he is still around, I can't see him being happy with not getting a place. I reckon they'll do one a year for the first three, then bump it up to two a year so the likes of Daniels, Abyss etc get in.

I wonder if/when they put Christian (Cage) in, would WWE let him accept the award like TNA let Ric Flair this year.

They have about ten real Hall of Famers (nearly all of which are still active in the company), so there's no point rushing through them by having more than one a year.

I'd imagine he will be long since retired by the time that becomes an issue. He won't be near the top of many lists.

Kharma would be the only issue with WWE employees as she would have to go in before any other Knockouts.

Maybe they should do a yearly dinner/gala affair like the Slammies instead. Best feud, best match etc; wrestlers can cut promos off the cuff in a funny mix of work & shoot. It could be a Christmas special in place of impact. Last award of the night could be 1 TNA HoF inductee.

Well we definitely don't want to go down Vince's route of putting in guys of the average caliber of Koko B Ware, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and Ron Simmons, but a one-person-per-year deal would see the likes of Abyss, Christopher Daniels, Chris Sabin, Awesome Kong, and Mike Tenay likely never get a look in.

A one-per-year exclusivity would certainly appear to give it more credibility as a huge honour type of membership, though it remains to be seen how tight-knit TNA will keep it. I can't remember if they confirmed one a year, but they may change their mind and put 2 or 3 a year or decide to have a Tag-Team or Knockout wing. Sure Hogan will find a way to get Nash and Hall in there, brother

I think it should either be Jeff Jarrett or Sting. Jeff for being a founder of TNA or Sting because he's the Icon.

Macho Man Randy Savage is another name being bandied around the last few days.

Dave Meltzer was pretty much goading TNA into asking for serious concessions from WWE for Flair's participation in the WWE Hall of Fame this year. As an act of standing their ground with Vince and earning Vince's respect.

He now wants TNA to induct Macho Man, Bruno Sammartino and Lou Thesz as a political statement as those three should be in WWE's Hall of Fame but arent. Otherwise he feels it will be just a secondary hall of fame from a secondary promotion if they just induct a Jeff Jarrett.

    AJ Styles
But I get the sense they want it to be a TNA Hall of Fame, not a Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame operated by TNA. Making a "political statement" that Vince really wouldn't care about and inducting people who either have very little or nothing to do with TNA purely to get a reaction from WWE (which won't come) just makes them even more second rate.

Yeah he could have at least practiced in the dressing room before the match. I don't know why they didn't just use the good old fashioned easy to apply handcuffs.

Seeing as this Impact happened a week ago now, perhaps a mod could rebrand this as the official TNA Hall of Fame thread?

Dixie said on Twitter that Christian is going to be at the show. Surely they wont do him as the first inductee? Unless they are doing three or four people that seems like a very odd choice of inductee.

The sad thing is that if Christian is revealed as the first inductee into the TNA Hall of Fame and show up live at Slammiversary, it's almost suicide to his WWE career and I just can't imagine he will ever get a major push in WWE ever again. No chance in hell of Vince having TNA's first ever Hall of Fame inductee anywhere near the WHC picture and he'll probably never win another belt in WWE. He's really setting himself up for a stint on Superstars.

I hope for Christian's sake that he just got invited to some backstage celebration and won't appear on the PPV.

I really doubt Vince would care, especially considering how frighteningly low he is on star power these days.

Vince or someone high up would have had to ok it first. It's not like when one of the Highlanders showed up a few years ago and ended up getting released.

Besides, I'm sure TNA would be more than happy to offer Christian another option if WWE decide to punish him for showing up.

Vince probably OK'ed it because he felt like he owed TNA a favour for letting them have Ric Flair for the Four Horsemen induction. It's a nice gesture but it doesn't mean future repercussions for Christian.

I wouldn't put it past Vince to hold a grudge as that's just a part of his petty nature. How many stories have we read of guys getting punished for seemingly very little wrongdoings.
