My saorview singal is breaking up intermittently this morning, every minute or 2 it goes off for a few seconds, this has happened a good few times in the past few weeks and happens on both digital and analogue signals in the house.
any idea whats wrong? I'm getting signal from truskmore.

    Hmm, thanks for that.
After getting work done on it last year to improve the signal I expected there to be no problems. From what we remember we don't recall this happening before. If its not the weather, then is it possible that a signal can be too strong? I heard it mentioned before.
The installer last year put a booster or something along those lines to improve the signal here because the signal strength wasn't the strongest.

This thread mentions problems at Castlebar too. Maybe this originated from Truskmore?

A couple of reports of this in Donegal too.

Are all these problems just today, and if so, have they cleared up now

    Thanks

Seems to have cleared up now, it was pretty much unwatchable for a time there earlier. This happened a few weeks ago aswell.

Yup, I've witnessed it today too, and had a few calls about it.

Tried ringing RTENL but no answer. Emailed instead, though no reply. Maybe it's half day on Friday.

As an installer, maybe I should not post in here anymore...

Signal flickering or jumping intermittently today, a different problem to last weeks problem but still annoying.

Lots of break up today, maybe the high pressure system is causing it.

Happens occasionally in Galway too. Receiving from Tonabrocky transmitter.
Have always had perfect analogue reception.

Well, you certainly aren't getting analogue channels from Tonabrocky.

    No?
I'm probably a mile and a half west, with line of sight from that transmitter.
I figured that was where we were receiving from.

For Saorview anyway it's definitely Tonabrocky, channel 26.

Tonabrocky doesn't carry any analogue, you're more than likely getting it from Maghera & if it's 'perfect' as you say, then your aerials (VHF & UHF for Maghera) must be pointing there too.

Maghera Saorview is on UHF ch. 48, so your receiver would have found the Tonabrocky signal first on an auto scan. You could try manually tuning your receiver to ch. 48 & see if that offers any improvement or get a suitable aerial aligned on Tonabrocky.
