Decat quote

    Hi guys,

I have been looking around Galway to find a good exhaust shop but no luck so far.

I would like to replace my current double cat middle section with a single high flow cat (200 cell) or a cat-less pipe altogether.

The middle section of my car's exhaust isn't straight so it will need the pipe to be slightly bended at one side.

I have contacted souhan's in Meath and I got a quote which I believe is rather dear for what I'm asking.

Are there any good places around Galway you would recommend for such job?

    Thanks

    G.

Try asking over at the modified car section.

    For what car?

I was going to say I have a 3 inch decat for a Silvia, but I think that would be useless here... :pac:

    It's for a IS220d. I can't find anything ready.

The standard diameter is 2,5 inches.

I was quoted 250 euro which sound a lot of money to me for 1,5 meter of pipe with 2 flanges welded on each side, a lambda hole and a bit of bending on a tube bender. Plus the drive to Meath 160kms each way.

There are ready decat pipes for TDIs on e-bay for 40quid....

That's the problem I think, not many IS220d owners would be looking for a decat I'd imagine, it wouldn't be a common thing to ask for...

With the VAG stuff, there are more of those on the road than there is grass in ditches, hence why they're cheap.

Having said that though, whereabouts are you from? If you are not too far away and are prepared to drive, there's a place on the Forkhill road outside Newry called ON Exhausts, they quoted my dad £150 for a full stainless exhaust system for his Merc and around £200 for my E34, also stainless. Made on the car for the car :) tax wouldn't be as big as problem as here so there would be many more IS220d drivers up there and possibly more of a demand for decats :)

I don't work for them btw :pac:
