Hi Guys - Looking for advice on AI Bull for BBX Heifer, 18 Months Old. She is a nice shapely heifer, not very tall and not over muscled. Neighbours are advising Limousin, Angus, etc. Any advice appreciated.

with blues its best to take the safe option for the first calving and see how she goes. Easy calving limo would be my choice.
what AI company are you with?

Make sure the reliability figure for calving difficulty is high.

Easy calving Angus would be my own choice.

With NCBC, FL22 and AHZ are well proven easy calving limousins. Don't let the AI guy pick for you either. He won't be around when you're swinging off the back of her in 9 months time.

depends on the heifer and her shape. We've been at blue for years now and a heifer with just s small bit of style and some blue breeding crossed with a blue bull brings the nicest weanlings for exports.Just dont over feed in the last month and you'll have a nice small calf.We let the cows own conditioning carry her to term,so she'll lose a bit of weight as she ripens and up until this year we had 4 years without losing a calf or need the jack more than once

+1 for angus, great cross with a blue.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
