    I'm 23, just finished college and am currently seeking employment. I have my JSA application sent in and am awaiting a means test/interview on the 13th. Yesterday, I applied for Supplementary Welfare Allowance as I know the JSA claim process can be lengthy.

    Does anyone know how soon I can receive payment of the SWA? (I'm in Galway if that matters)

    Apply to your local CWO asap. Usually takes about 3 wks for first payment to come through, assuming yours is a straighforward case and all documents are coshur.

    From my experience (Limerick) it took only a week or so to get sorted, once all the necessary paperwork was submitted.

    Yea I submitted the SWA form and necessary paperwork yesterday. I'm hoping its not going to take 3 weeks to process though!? I would presume Limerick and Galway would be similar systems in terms of waiting times

    will your cwo not give you a cheque weekly untill it comes through ?

    Thats what I'm hoping lisar816. My query was in relation to how long it generally takes to receive SWA payment once your application is made.

    well when you go into apply you should get a cheque that day if you have everything the cwo needs. Its up to him if he is happy with your situation to give you a payment

    well my partner applied for swa about a month ago, his first payment was a cheque then he had to go back the following week and got a cheque again, the cwo told him his payment would be in the post office the following week so its up to them

    he got it that day we filled in the form and he wrote the cheque
