Send Contacts to phone

Hi All,

Is it possible to set up a file online with contact details that when opened would download the details to either android or iphone phone book?

It seems fairly straight forward but I cannot seem to find anywhere that has details about it. I have a good understanding of web technology but would struggle to do it.

If it is possible could anybody tell me how to do it, as it would be handy as sort of a back up online should I lose my contacts. Lost them about 2 years ago and it took me forever to get them all back.

The download part....I doubt their's anything that'll do that right.

Be handier to just stick them on a cheap MicroSD Card?

the iPhone IOS 5 came with iCloud that backs up your contacts to "The Cloud" if you set it on when connected to wifi. You can then retrieve these if data is lost.
Not sure about andriod.

Android phones have since pretty much day one been able to sync contacts with a gmail account.... this is one of the most basic functions. Fruitphones can also sync with gmail.

Its very handy, one of the benefits of smartphones. Check out Avalances suggestions if going the Android phone route, I'm sure there are alternatives for the iphone aswell as wp7
