Leaked Results?

Apparently some results appeared on some people's transcripts. It's only a small proportion apparently but I thought I'd ask if anyone here got theirs by any chance. They come up on the full transcript I think. I got nothing yet though.

Friend put it on FB that there was a leak, he got his results but most others didn't. He told SAA and they were going to take the link down.

You would thing that they have done it all but they seem to find new buttons to push

There is a development site currently up. ITD is using it to test systems. It is using test data. So although there is a possibility actual results will correspond, it is unlikely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 Zeta12

Well if the results have being leaked before they are officially approved by the exam board (7th June I think is the date on academic calender) UL are in serious trouble. If they have allowed students true results float freely around for ITD to play with and for students to access long before the exam board has reviewed them and long before June 18th results day, they have left themselves open to all sorts of litigation and investigations not to mention media attention. It would be very bad for the University's rep. That's why I think UL couldn't be that careless and I hope for the University's sake they were not the real results, as SAA claim. We will know on June 18th if students results match the 'test data' for ITD's development site. I hope those students who got their results on the test development site saved or printed a copy as evidence.

So did people actually get their full results? Surely they cannot still be gotten?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 Zeta12

Ya Daniel. Some people got their full results. Some report that only 3 or 4 modules were inputted. I got my full results and have them saved and printed. They have since being taken down. It's very suspicious and if they were Infact the real results And not some random test data like they are claiming, I will be taking action. It would be too much of a coincidence if the test data exactly matches my real results on the 18th.

Media attention...Hah the only media that will take any interest is that of the Ul student media.

Its not national nor local news(Outside of the campus anyway)that some results were leaked early.

Not sure you can take any real action to be honest. According to the academic calendar, final day for module results to be submitted was the 25th of May. And my understanding is that you only would have had access to your own results, so no breach of confidentiality (like there was for the Autumn semester's results).

The exam board met on 30th May. 7th of June is for 4th years' exams(going by the Academic Calendar anyway, I'm open to correction). So if you're not a fourth year then your results would have been signed off on.

I am a solicitor. My friend in UL told me about this. A good case could be made if a student wishes to take action. People have sued for less. However, a good point was already touched on. That student would have to be a fourth year student as the graduate exam board did not meet yet for fourth years. I take your word for it that the board already met for every other year.

Having said that, I studied in UL and I know how rigid their procedures are and I doubt very much they messed up like this where fourth years are concerned. These are not just results, they are final results that could determine a person's career. Whether leaked early or not, if they were leaked before the graduate exam board meet means that the results were decided and released for the student to see without approval of the board. Therefore the student's results did not go throught the correct procedures resulting in flawed results that could affect the student's future. UL's system could come under fire if these procedures were not followed as per schedule and it could be claimed that students were being fired out recklessly assessed results.

So this is why I believe these results were in fact the test data from a development site like UL are claiming and I would be very suprised if they matched the actual results that the students will recieve. Its an ITD cock up (they've never changed) as they shouldn't have being using such a system with fake results that students could access. So stop getting your knickers in a knot people!! But to be on that safe side retain your copies of the fake results just in case they match the real results. Then you will have proof procedures were not followed and you can take your action.

Interesting thread though and I am interested to see how it turns out but I am almost sure UL could not make such a mess of things. Keep us posted when results are revealed.

I completed a one year course so will be graduating in august. Had to get my student transcript for an interview at the start of this week from SAA and there were semesters 2 results on it. Wish they weren't my results but I expect there correct.

Ah well UL is the lowest ranked university in Ireland. I don't think it can fall any further

results are preliminary only in name. the exam board only argue the toss on borderline students and usually not very strongly unless someone on it likes you.

i was in the neighbour hood. and college is what you make of it. I make up for UL's short comings with my hard work and perseverance. i resent the fact I'm surrounded by these primitives doing wood work teaching phds and dance studies and other silly courses but it doesn't bother me 99% of the time.

I am also not willing to spend the money to attend a top 10 university in the world (oxbridge/harvard/yale etc) nor am I talented enough to get the scholarships. UL might be a bit behind UCD and TCD but they're also **** in the global rankings. TCDs slightly elevated status is due to the stuff it does in the arts and humanities and not science so I really don't care where it's ranked.

for me, college is just a necessary evil, trying to get in and out as quickly as possible. I just have a problem with the university brain washing the students into thinking "ul is one of the best campuses in the world", "ul is one of the best colleges in Ireland", "the ul experience is great" and I have a problem with the students lapping this **** up and believing it.

ul is a third tier university bank rolled by a very generous american. if it wasn't for him we'd just a slightly larger version of waterford IT. There is no pioneering world class research going on, there is no notable development partnerships. UL seems to have found a niche of producing public servants and IT job specialists.

    teachers, accountants, programmers.

People in the other colleges are generally as deluded as they are here but I don't go elsewhere so I don't feel obliqued to open their eyes.

If UL was swallowed up by a black hole tomorrow how would the world be a worse off place? There would be less wood work teachers on the dole and their would be less people in college doing secretary studies under the guise of public admin. The people of castletroy would have less places for their dogs to **** and the travellers would have fewer places to do races.
