    Evening all.

The engine warning light has been coming on in my Astra with increasing frequency over the last few months.
When it first started a few months back, it'd come on halfway up the cork Dublin road, after sitting at 100kph for an hour. More recently though, I cant get from the Kinsale Road Roundabout to the tunnel without it coming on.

It's not the light that's bothering me though, it's the symptoms that come with it. Maybe 5 seconds before it comes on, the power drops way off. Then the power comes back, the light comes on, and the engine starts running roughly. There's a noticeable increase in "rattle", and she seems a bit laboured.
It then stays that way until the car is turned off and restarted. She's grand then again until the next time.

Like I've said, it didn't bother me too much before as it was more the exception than the rule. But at this stage I can hardly get to work (5 miles) without it coming on.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks.

It could be any number of things, have you had it diagnosed yet or even the fault codes read?
