It is true that when a person who passes their test in an automatic cannot drive a manual as a learner ?

If this is the case then how does a auto full license driver go about been able to drive a manual and in some case drive a manual again ?

They have to apply for a learner permit again. And display L plates etc.

    Ah i see.

Would they have to go through EDT even if they were not required to when they held their original permit ?

    No, EDT would not apply.

So to sum it up. A person gets their first permit, passes their test in an autobox. They decide they want to drive a manual. They then apply for the theory test ? or just reapply for a permit at the tax office ?

If its within 5 years of previously sitting the theory test, they just need to apply for a Learner Permit for the relevant category and will be legally required to be accompanied by a holder of an unrestricted Driving Licence in the relevant category.

Not as bad as I thought it would be, thanks :)

    Grand thanks :)

And one final question, when you apply again for your permit, can you still hang on to your full auto license till you pass your test in a manual ?
