Advice for noobie doing Docklands 8km

    Hi all

    I used to run regularly 5 years ago but just restarted literally 10 days ago with aim to run the docklands 8km which is in just over 2 weeks due to motivation from my wife who has been running for the last few months.

    So far, have run a few 4 and 5 km runs, did an 8km yesterday and today did a 4 by 800 fast with 200m rest.

    Any idea how to maximize my progress given my limited time of 2 weeks, should I just concentrate on 8km runs or mix it up with a few fast sessions?

    Thanks all! In anticipation of the replies, yes I know I can't plan a 2 week program! :)

    Hate to see a valid question drop off the page - hardly ever happens these days.

    You're no newbie though PS - you just need a bit of validation. In your position I would
    1. Go long some time this weekend - go on, 8-10 slow miles. You need them in your legs.
    2. Next weekend aim for 5-6 miles at a nice tempo.
    3. In between get your shorter runs done at a fast lick, or get in another track interval session.
    4. Put your feet up 48 hours before the race.
    Good luck.
