No claims bonus

I know the best people to ask would be insurance companies themselves but it would be handier to know straight away.

If I have had my own policy on my own car for a number of years and have built up a no claims bonus, and have also been a named driver on another policy, would I also have been earning a named driver discount? I ask because I'll be getting a second separate policy soon so can't use the main no claims on it, seems like having a named driver bonus still makes a good difference to the price.

    Cheers.

No, but some insurance companies will 'mirror' your existing NCB onto a second policy. As always, shop around.

Make sure and insure your no claims discount as well. It's only an extra few Euro and is well worth it if something goes wrong.

Anyone have any idea of which companies might do this?

I'd say it might have more to do with the proposer than the company. Sure you need to ring them all anyway.

I was talking to my insurance company during the week about insuring 2 cars in my name and was told I could not use the No Claims bonus I have built up in my own name.
Interestingly enough, however, they told me that if I was a "Named Driver" on another policy that I could use that instead. I just happen to be on my mother's car insurance as a named driver and have several years on that which I could use for the second policy. So to answer your question, Yes... but it depends on the Insurance company. If you would like to know who I am insured with just drop me a PM. :)
