I was trying to download and burn the Window memory diagnostic as a bootable iso. I tried making it an iso with burnaware free and burned it but it burned as an exe. I tried burning the exe as an iso but ba freezes.

I know it can be done from within vista and seven but I am curioius as to why I cannot burn it. Does one have to download the iso before burning orccan the exe be converted/

From reading the instructions, I think you need to run the .exe (double click on it) and go through the setup until it gives you the option to create a disk image (the .iso file). You then burn this disk image using whatever programme you have (I use Astroburner lite on Windows).

Personal preference, but for testing RAM I use Memtest86.

    +1 for Memtest86 over WMT.

Use the pre-compiled ISO, save the headache of creating suitable boot code etc, the rars prob for floppy images

I ran windows diagnostic and memtest on two different pcs overnight. No problems were found but the router could not be found when I finished. i could see other networks but not mine. Had to restart router. Has anyone experienced this?

That problem wouldn't be related to running a memory test, have you checked the hard disk?

I doubt both hard disks could be faulty. I ran mem tests on both pcs

If the hard disk with Windows on it is faulty, freezing/locking up would be common

I misunderstood, I thought you were having machine lock up/freezing issues (as in op). Re the router, try unplugging it and see if its seen after turning it on again, memtest is completely seperate to your external hardware, this issue is unrelated

It was the burning software that was freezing when i was trying to burn the wrong file type. The router worked OK when i restarted the router
